After conducting countless mock interviews, I can tell you this: the biggest mistake candidates make isn’t giving the wrong answer — it’s giving an unstructured answer.
When asked “Tell me about yourself,” most candidate ramble. They mix education, hobbies, achievements, everything in random order.
Here’s a better way:
- Start with a quick summary (who you are professionally).
- Move to your key achievements relevant to the role.
- End with what you’re looking forward to in your next role.
Interviews are about clarity and confidence. If you can structure your thoughts, you already stand out from most candidates.
